Palak Paneer / Tofu with Spinach


Palak Paneer-Palak Paneer is a delicious, hearty North Indian dish prepared with pureed spinach based thick sauce and Indian cheese (Cottage Cheese). 
This traditional vegetarian dish is a rich, smooth, creamy curry where paneer cubes are cooked in a onion-tomato-spinach based gravy which is moderately spiced with Indian spices.
The smooth and creamy consistency, melt in the mouth paneer cubes and the simple ingredients which go into making this dish give it a delightful subtle sweet flavor that is sure to keep you satisfied. Try it once and you'll love it for sure ;)
This curry makes a great accompaniment with rotis, naan or hot steamed rice.



Ingredients:

Palak(Spinach)-----------------------------------------500 gm
Paneer(Cottage Cheese) / Tofu----------------------200 gm
Green chillies-------------------------------------------4
Onion----------------------------------------------------1
Curd------------------------------------------------------2 tblsp
Ginger Paste--------------------------------------------1/2 tsp
Red Chilly Powder-------------------------------------1/2 tsp
Coriander Powder--------------------------------------1 tsp
Cumin Powder------------------------------------------1 tsp
Garam Masala------------------------------------------1/2 tsp
Oil--------------------------------------------------------4 tblsp
Turmeric powder---------------------------------------1/2 tsp
Cream----------------------------------------------------2 tblsp
Salt--------------------------------------------------------to taste

Method:

1. Boil the palak (Spinach) with green chillies for about 5 minutes and cool it.

2. Grind it along with chillies.

3. Heat oil in a pan and put the chopped onions, fry them till they are golden brown.

4. Add curd, ginger paste, red chilly powder, coriander powder, cumin powder,garam masala, turmeric powder and salt.


5. Fry till the oil separates, now add the palak paste and cover it and let it cooked in low heat.

6. Stir it in the intervals of 4-5 minutes for 15-20 minutes.

7. Add cubes of paneer and cook for next 5 minutes.

8. Add cream and serve with naan, rotis or hot steamed rice.
