Tasty Bitter Gourd/ Masaledar Karela





This recipe is a great side dish to any meal and even the non- karela lovers would like it. It has many health benefits also.


Ingredients:

Bitter Gourd (Sliced thin into 3 inch long pieces)-----------5-6
Onion (Chopped)------------------------------------------------1 medium

Tomatoes (Chopped)--------------------------------------------2 medium
Turmeric Powder------------------------------------------------1 tsp
Coriander Powder-----------------------------------------------1 tsp
Red Chili Powder------------------------------------------------1 tsp
Salt-----------------------------------------------------------------to taste
Dry Mango Powder----------------------------------------------1/2 tsp
Oil------------------------------------------------------------------3 tbsp
Mixture of {Onion Seeds,
                    Fennel Seeds, 
                    Fenugreek Seeds} --------------------------------1/2 tsp



Method:

1. In a bowl take Bitter Gourd pieces ,1/2 tsp turmeric powder and
    little bit of Salt .Mix well and keep aside for 5 minutes.

2. Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a pan and cook the Bitter Gourd in it for 5-6
    minutes, stirring occasionally and keep aside.

3. In another pan, heat remaining oil and add the mixture of onion
    seeds, fennel seeds and fenugreek seeds in it.

4. When they starts crackling then add chopped onions in the pan.

5. After onions become light brown in color, add chopped tomatoes,
    1/2 tsp turmeric powder and salt.

6. Cook in low flame until tomatoes are soft.

7. Now add red chili powder, coriander powder and previously fried  
    Bitter Gourd. Mix well and cook for 2 minutes.

8. Lastly, add dry mango powder, mix and cook for 3 minutes.

9. Turn off the heat and serve hot.
